Where we Fit Within New Zealand Rugby
Whangamata Rugby and Sports Club have for the last five seasons hosted players from overseas to play in our senior team. We play in the Thames Valley Rugby Union (TVRU) senior A club competition. A competition that we won in 2020. In turn the Thames Valley Rugby Union representative team play in the New Zealand wide Heartland Competition. TVRU is a feeder union to the The Chiefs franchise of Super Rugby Aotearoa.
An Invitation To Our Club From Our President
The Whangamata Rugby and Sports Club is part of that wonderful international community that is Rugby Union. We are fortunate to be located in an idyllic beach environment that makes for enjoyable living. We recognise the value of having players from different unions both from within New Zealand and from overseas playing for us and it invariably works both ways with visiting players improving their own playing ability as they immerse themselves in the fierce competition of New Zealand Rugby.
We have hosted players from Australia, The USA, The UK, Ireland and Argentina and all have brought valuable qualities to our club. For suitable players of superior playing ability we can assist with immigration issues, travel costs, accommodation costs and employment.
